Chest Rigs--The Most Important Part Of Tactical Equipment

Chest rigs are one of the cornerstones of tactical gear. Not only can they help carry all your tactical equipment, but a good chest rig can provide instantaneous access to equipment needed during emergencies. In today's post we won't focus on which chest rig is the best - rather we will discuss why and how chest rigs are essential as well as key things you should keep in mind when using one.

What Are Chest Rigs Used For?

Chest rigs are forms of tactical gear storage worn on the chest. These may be worn alone or attached to tactical vests for added storage capacity. As previously discussed, chest rigs offer many advantages when it comes to tactical equipment storage. From MOLLE webbing pockets and other features - they make life much simpler! Modularity in this system comes from its Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) webbing equipment - rows of heavy-duty nylon stitched onto a vest which allow users to attach pouches and accessories. Attachment systems such as this one have become the industry standard for modular tactical gear, replacing All-Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment (ALICE), which was commonly found on early modular vest systems used by law enforcement (and is still prevalent today).

Why are chest rigs important?

Chest rigs are an invaluable piece of tactical equipment. By enabling us to transport multiple objects without using our hands, they allow for greater productivity in battle situations.

Protection

All unprotected parts of the body are susceptible to modern weaponry, with head and torso areas particularly at risk from gunfire. To safeguard these vulnerable spots, modern armed forces have developed combat helmets and body armor as tools of defense.

To store more tactical gear

As noted above, one of the primary features of a chest rig is its storage pockets and loops for tactical gear storage. Carrying more gear means being better prepared in emergencies; being better prepared means greater chances of survival.

How to use a chest rig correctly

Are you in the market for the perfect chest rig, but need some assistance selecting one? Take a look at these chest rigs - they should provide everything that's needed!

Choose the Right Color

For optimal performance in Alpine environments, selecting a chest rig in desert camo should not be necessary; similarly any chest rig featuring fun patterns such as dragons or flames - no matter how dangerous they may make you appear - should also not be purchased.

Chose the Right Harness

Chest rigs offer two types of harnesses, known as X and H harnesses. While both styles may fit most people comfortably, smaller body frames may find that X harnesses provide less intrusion while remaining top heavy; women may find an X harness provides them with better chest and back support.

Choose an Easy Chest Rig

More capacity doesn't always equal better; what matters is being able to easily store and remove items from your chest rig without getting them trapped or misplaced during an emergency. Too many pockets may mean things get caught or cannot be easily located when necessary.
