Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber (full name: Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Fiber (UHMWPE) is a kind of unbranched-chain linear polyethylene with a molecular weight of more than 1.5 million, which is also known as high strength PE fiber. It is one of the three major high-tech fibers in the world today (the other two are carbon fiber and aramid). It is currently one of the toughest fibers in the world, also known as high-strength high-modulus polyethylene fiber. Its characteristics are "light as paper, hard as steel", the strength is 15 times that of steel, and twice that of carbon fiber and aramid 1414 (i.e., Kevlar fiber); It is the fiber with the highest strength and specific modulus, and is currently the main material for the manufacture of body armor.
